Well known for quintessential Crystal blue water, luscious beaches, tantalizing food and beautiful culture, Jamaica is a premiere destination for the holidays. Whether you have family on the island or are just seeking a winter respite, Jamaica is a perfect destination. Still undoubtedly, things are different when traveling abroad this season. With various variants of the Corona virus around the globe; being prepared and taking extra safety precautions is vital.

Still with Jamaica’s COVID-19 infection rate remaining well below the global average, it’s still one of the more safe places to travel to this season. While other countries closed their borders, Jamaica remained open to tourists throughout much of the pandemic with strict COVID-19 travel policies and protocols in place for both residents and tourist in an effort to interrupt the spread on the island.

It’s important to know the travel protocols before you book a trip to Jamaica or anywhere abroad this season. Making a plan is essential. Along with an approved Travel Authorization form prior to boarding a flight to Jamaica, all travelers ages 12 and up regardless of nationality, are required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 molecular (PCR, NAA, RNA) or antigen test performed by an accredited lab for which the sample was collected within 3 days of the travel date. Be sure to print documents before proceeding to the airport. Some airlines will accept digital documents on a mobile device while others require you to present a physical travel authorization and negative Covid-19 test result. Travel Authorization applications must be submitted within seven (7) days of the intended travel date. Learn more about Travel Authorizations and the Covid-19 test requirements.

Once you arrive on the island, the Government of Jamaica Controlled Entry Programme protocols must be observed at all times. The Controlled Entry Programme initiatives include the categorization and assignment of all arriving travelers based on their purpose of visit and intended accommodation type of the Travel Authorization application. Visitors staying at approved accommodation within the resilient corridor can freely enjoy the many comforts of their stay, and visit approved Covid-19 protocol compliant attractions within the “corridor”. Tourist are not allowed outside of specific zones.

When it comes to COVID-19 protocols, all resorts and hotels are not created equally. Some hotels simply take the restrictions and cleaning precautions to the next level. The Caribbean’s 2021 Leading Honeymoon Resort, Sandals South Coast, Jamaica does exactly that. Set within a 500-acre coast lined nature preserve, the all-new Sandals South Coast is the perfect combination of European civility in an all-beachfront all-inclusive resort.

It’s a resort but feels more like a remote private island. From all-new Over-the-Water Bungalows, an overwater bar, and a romantic Over-the-Water Chapel, Sandals South Coast brings guests closer than ever to the water. Set on a 2-mile stretch of Jamaica’s south coast’s most pristine white-sand beach and nestled within a 500-acre nature preserve, this spectacular seaside oasis features three distinctive European Villages. Relax by one of three pools, including Jamaica’s largest, or dine at the new Sushi on the Sand restaurant. At night, extravagant bonfire areas and fire pits add to the glow of this truly unique adults-only destination in the heart of paradise.

Those who choose to travel are strongly encouraged to check local government restrictions, rules, and safety measures related to COVID-19 and take personal comfort levels and health conditions into consideration before departure.
