Adele Announces New Single, Her First New Song In Six Years
Adele is returning to the music scene for the first time since 2015: the singer announced she’ll release a new song next week as mysterious billboards featuring the number 30 continue to pop up around the world, which fans speculate are teasing her upcoming album.
Adele, 33, will release a single “Easy on Me” on October 15, the singer announced Tuesday on Twitter.
The announcement comes amid intense fan speculation about the British singer’s new project sparked by teal billboards showing nothing but the number 30, which were installed in several major cities and which matched her new profile pictures on Twitter and Instagram.
A video teaser for the song included emotional piano playing, a trademark sound for the “Rolling in the Deep” singer.
Adele’s last album was 2015’s 25. The singer typically titles her albums with numbers that reflect the age she wrote them. In 2016 she released three singles from the album, including “Water Under the Bridge.” The next year, the album won two Grammy awards for “Album of the Year” and Best Pop Vocal Album.” Since the release of 25, Adele, whose last name is Adkins, got married and then divorced from entrepreneur Simon Konecki. If it keeps the pattern with her previous works, the new album will reflect this time in her life when she was 30 years old. The Brit is currently dating Rich Paul, a high-powered NBA agent who represents Lebron James and Anthony Davis.
Taylor Swift moved up the release of the re-recording of her album “Red (Taylor’s Version) from November 19 to November 12. Fans have taken this as a sign that Adele will release her new album on the 19th, and Swift moved her debut so the two works wouldn’t overlap.
