NFL Week 3 Picks: Schedule, Odds, Betting Trends And Predictions Against The Spread

By News Creatives Authors , in Business , at September 26, 2021

Sunday is here and with it comes a full 14-game slate of Week 3 NFL games. This is an important week for many teams, especially those that have gotten off to a rough start to the 2021 season.

The seven squads that are currently 0-2 should be desperate to notch a win this week. History has shown it is nearly impossible to clinch a playoff berth after starting a campaign with three consecutive losses. Since 1980, just six of 188 teams have gone on to reach the postseason after badly stumbling out of the gate .

Recent history is even more damning, as the 2018 Texans are the only 0-3 squad to ever rally to a playoff spot in the last 23 years. There is hope for these winless franchises, however, with an expanded 17-game regular season and 14-team playoff bracket providing more chances to turn things around.

The Jets, Colts, Jaguars, Giants, Lions and Falcons will all be looking for their first win of 2021 in Week 3.

On the opposite end of the standings, teams that notch a “W” today and move to 3-0 have a historically great chance of making the playoffs. Since the league expanded to 32 teams in 2002, 70% of clubs that ripped off three consecutive wins to start a season have ended up punching a playoff ticket.

The Raiders, Broncos, 49ers, Rams, Cardinals and Buccaneers all have a chance to join the Panthers—who remained undefeated with a victory over the Texans on Thursday Night Football—at 3-0 with a victory on Sunday.

There are plenty of exciting Week 3 games involving .500 teams as well, including tonight’s primetime matchup between the Packers and 49ers. It all begins at 1 p.m. ET with a flurry of nine consecutive kickoffs before moving into the late afternoon window, a time slot that will see four contests be played out.

With that in mind, here is a look at the start times, TV channels, live stream sites and updated NFL odds courtesy of FanDuel for every game on the Week 3 schedule. You can also find some relevant betting trends and quick picks for the some of Sunday’s most notable contests.

NFL Week 3 Betting Trends

  • The Ravens are 8-2 ATS over their last 10 games overall. Baltimore is currently a 7.5-point favorite over the hapless Lions, a team that is just 3-7 ATS over its last 10 games as an underdog.
  • Washington has historically struggled against the Bills, losing and failing to cover in all but one of the last eight meetings between these teams. Buffalo comes into Week 3 as 7.5-point chalk and a 6-2 ATS record in its previous eight games as a favorite.
  • The Chargers have been one of the best teams to bet on against the Chiefs lately, going 4-1-1 ATS across their six clashes. Kansas City has been struggling to cover, especially as a favorite, evidenced by its 2-10 ATS record over its last 12 games. The Chiefs are laying 6.5 to LA in Week 3.
  • The Giants have traditionally fared well after appearing on Thursday Night Football the previous week. Big Blue is 10-1-1 SU over its last 12 games following an extended rest after appearing in that timeslot. The G-Men are expected to continue that winning trend in Week 3, opening as 2.5-point home favorites over the Falcons. Atlanta is just 1-4 ATS over its last five games as a road ‘dog.
  • Since Mike Tomlin took over as the Steelers head coach back in 2007, he has gone 20-9 ATS against the rival Bengals with a 14-4 ATS mark at home in this series. Pittsburgh—laying 3.5 to Cincy this afternoon—will be looking to snap an 0-5 ATS run as a favorite in Week 3.
