‘Diablo II: Resurrected’ Launch Foiled By Server Issues, Vanishing Characters

By News Creatives Authors , in Business , at September 23, 2021

The classic video game that essentially spawned an entire genre, Diablo II, has been resurrected. The new-and-improved Diablo II: Resurrected remaster is out today, replete with a fully overhauled campaign and online multiplayer.

And therein lies the problem: The game may be live on Battle.net but many players can’t play it, including Forbes Games reviewer, Paul Tassi, who is at this very moment trying to get online so he can review the game—to no avail.

Server issues aren’t impacting everyone, but these are far from the only problems facing the game this morning. Other players are reporting issues with player creation or even seeing existing characters they’ve already made.

This means that even though it may appear that your character is not there anymore, don’t worry: This too shall pass. Your character will return, as if from the ashes—dare I say, resurrected from an unfortunate glitch.

This is all somewhat reminiscent of the disastrous Diablo III launch way back in—checks Google—holy crap, 2012. A more innocent age when the future didn’t include global pandemics and various other horrors. Honestly, how is Diablo IV not out yet?

Anyways, that game launched with massive server issues and other problems so nobody—and I mean nobody—should be surprised about Diablo II: Resurrected facing similar problems on launch day. These will pass, probably within a few hours, and you can go slay demons to your heart’s content.

Stay tuned.
