To celebrate Black voices, Refinery29’s, Unbothered and Target have collaborated on a long-term podcast partnership.
For the first leg of this extended partnership, Unbothered and Target launched the first episode of a 12-episode 5th season, tackling how to reset for the fall after a summer full of nothing but uncertainty.
This season will touch on mind, body, and spirit pillars, treating the Unbothered audience to a set of tools for a 2021 glow-up — elevating the Black ingenuity inherent to themselves and their communities.
Produced, developed, and published internally by an all-Black majority women team, Chelsea Sanders (VP, Multicultural Brand Strategy & Development, Refinery29’s Unbothered & Somos), Kathleen Newman-Bremang (Senior Editor, Refinery29’s Unbothered), and Stephanie Long (Senior Editor, Refinery29’s Unbothered) will return to the Go Off, Sis roundtable as co-hosts this season with the addition of two new Unbothered staffers — Ineye Komonibo (Culture Critic, Refinery29’s Unbothered) and Maiya Carmichael (Social Coordinator, Refinery29’s Unbothered). Season 5 of Go Off, Sis podcast will also continue to spotlight voices at the forefront of Black entertainment and culture, including Yvonne Orji, Niecy Nash, and many more. Previous guests have included Keke Palmer (Unbothered Creative Advisor), Tracee Ellis Ross, Mara Brock Akil, Janelle Monáe, Tia Mowry, Marsai Martin, Brittany Packnett Cunningham, and more.
“The Go Off, Sis podcast team is so proud of the community we’ve built in celebration of Black voices over the past 4 seasons, and we’re excited to continue our stellar partnership with Target with season 5 and beyond,” says Chelsea Sanders, Co-Host and Executive Producer of Go Off, Sis Podcast and VP, Multicultural Brand Strategy & Development, Unbothered and Somos. “Since inception, we’ve made it a priority to have real, honest conversations about our experiences as Black women, inviting our audience and leading Black change-makers into that safe space with us. This season, we’re pushing that even further by examining how our contributions continue to shape culture in every way. Whether we’re debating depictions of Black love and excellence on screen, prioritizing our wellness, examining the power of our dollar and what luxury really means now, or just giving our flowers to spaces where we shine — from Black Twitter to HBCU’s — we’re going off and owning it, and letting our listeners know they can too.”
Unbothered is Refinery29’s community created for and by Black women, celebrating the beauty, strength, and power of Black women. Unbothered is a testament to the intrapreneurship of its Black employees, who started the brand in 2017 in order to see more of themselves represented internally and in media. Since then, the community has grown into a multi-platform sub-brand that includes a vertical on R29.com, a dedicated monthly newsletter, “Go Off Sis” viral IGTV series and podcast, live events and more
