All The Gamescom 2021 Video Game Trailers You Really Need To Watch

By News Creatives Authors , in Business , at August 26, 2021

Yesterday marked the beginning of Gamescom, the biggest video game conference of the year—though this year, thanks to the global coronavirus pandemic, it’s entirely virtual.

Still, a virtual conference is no less capable of showing off lots of cool new and upcoming video games, and yesterday’s Opening Night Live stream with Geoff Keighley certainly offered up some fun new trailers and gameplay footage—as well as some mild disappointments.

Here are all the video game trailers from Gamescom Opening Night Live and why you should care (or not care) about each one.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga

The LEGO games have been pretty hit-or-miss over the years, and I suppose they appeal to a certain kind of gamer more than others, but I have to say this really does look quite charming. This one comes out in Spring of 2022.

Far Cry 6

Say what you will about the Far Cry series, they really do know how to make a zany open-world shooter with interesting villains. My favorite part of these games, however, is capturing bases and treating the whole thing like a big chaos sand-box. Far Cry 6, which features Giancarlo Esposito as dictator Anton Castillo, looks to check off all the right boxes. October 7th.

Midnight Suns

Without an actual gameplay trailer it’s hard to know what to expect from this tactical superhero game from the makers of XCOM but I’m definitely excited. I haven’t been very happy with any recent Marvel games but I’d love to play a more tactical game with these heroes. Read more about it here. No release date yet.

Saints Row Reboot

Judging by this CGI trailer alone—we have no gameplay yet—this looks literally nothing like Saints Row. It looks like Fortnite or Watch Dogs or some generic co-op shooter. I have to say, I’m just not impressed at all but I’m open to having my mind changed. You can read more about the reboot here. The game is slated for Feb. 25th 2022.

Halo Infinite Season One Cinematic Intro

I’m cautiously optimistic about Halo Infinite but only because I love Halo. So far everything we’ve seen has given everyone pause, so hopefully the year-long delay makes all the difference. December 8th.

JETT: The Far Shore

This looks cool. From the makers of Sword & Sworcery.

New World Open Beta

Amazon’s big open world MMO game New World has an upcoming open beta, so that should be pretty fun. I’ve played some of the game and it’s okay, but I’m not a huge MMO guy.

Death Stranding: Director’s Cut

I’m still not sure why a game whose director had total freedom to release what he wanted needed a director’s cut but okay.

Call Of Duty: Vanguard Mission

This mission was okay, nothing really too exciting, nothing to really get me salivating over the next Call of Duty, but I am excited for this weekend’s multiplayer alpha. November 5th for the release date.

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge

Super retro, this game is. I can dig it.

Cult Of The Lamb

Probably the most unique trailer out of Gamescom this year, I honestly have nothing to say that the video won’t convey better. Watch and be amazed.

Sifu

This looks pretty kick-ass!

DokeV

Man this game looks super creative and colorful and fun, exactly what I love to see in a new open world sandbox game. Neat!

Midnight Fight Express

This one is cool because it’s made by just one guy all by his lonesome and it looks really, really solid. Just look at that brawling goodness, that sweet sweet hit detection! Marvelous!

And that’s all folks! Enjoy the trailers and thanks for reading!
