Asking Alexandria Share Explosive Single ‘Alone Again,’ Announce New Album ‘See What’s On The Inside’

British rockers Asking Alexandria have released an explosive new single titled “Alone Again,” the first off their upcoming seventh studio album See What’s on the Inside, which arrives Oct. 1 via Better Noise Music, to which they signed this year.

“Alone Again” shows the quintet in fine form, with lead singer Danny Worsnop delivering a soaring, impassioned vocal melody and guitarist Ben Bruce unleashing piledriving riffs and a furious, wah-drenched solo. All five members co-wrote the track, and See What’s on the Inside marks the first time they wrote an album together in the same studio in over a decade.

“When I was a kid, all I played was guitar solos,” Bruce tells Forbes. “I would get cassette tapes, and I’d put tape over the little holes so I could record over them, and I’d have songs playing and I would just play lead guitar over them all. But I lost all that confidence.”

Bruce rediscovered his confidence on See What’s on the Inside by falling back in love with hard rock and metal titans like Metallica, Pantera, Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden and Aerosmith. “I do attribute a lot of it, one, to reconnecting with my passion for guitar and bands like Metallica and Pantera,” he says. “But two, just how comfortable we all were in the studio and how enjoyable it was.”

Indeed, “Alone Again” finds Asking Alexandria returning to a hybrid of arena rock and melodic metal after incorporating elements of alt-rock, electronic and unabashed pop on last year’s Like a House on Fire. It’s not a complete return to the larynx-shredding, breakdown-laden metalcore that categorized the band’s first two albums, 2009’s Stand Up and Scream and 2011’s Reckless and Relentless, but it’s still a thundering hard rock anthem that feels like a natural evolution from their early efforts.
