Billie Eilish dominates the Hot 100 this week, but not by sitting at No. 1. In fact, the alternative pop superstar doesn’t even appear inside the top 10 this period, though it’s tough to say she isn’t the queen of the competitive ranking, as he name can be found all over the list. Also scoring major wins this frame are Justin Bieber, Jonas Brothers and Silk Sonic, a moniker Americans are quickly coming to know very well.
Here’s a look at five of the most important moves on this week’s Hot 100 singles chart.
No. 1 – The Kid Laroi & Justin Bieber – “Stay”
The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s single “Stay” has only lived on the Hot 100 for four weeks, and it has spent all of that time inside the top five. This frame, it jumps to the peak position, becoming another win for Bieber and a career highlight for The Kid Laroi, who is still just getting started. This week, he conquers the most important songs ranking, and last frame he dominated the Billboard 200 with his album F*ck Love, which took a year before it worked its way to the summit.
No. 11 – Billie Eilish – “Happier Than Ever”
Some musicians may be disappointed to see one of their songs stall just one rung shy of hitting the top 10, but chances are Eilish isn’t upset about much this week. As her sophomore album Happier Than Ever opens at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with one of the largest sales frames of 2021, the singer claims nine spaces on the Hot 100, with half a dozen tracks featured on the just-released full-length debuting on the tally.
“Happoer Than Ever” is the highest-ranking of the bunch, as it opens at No. 11, and somewhat surprisingly, it’s the only tune Eilish has inside the top 40 this frame.
No. 14 – Silk Sonic – “Skate”
So far, Silk Sonic, otherwise known as the super duo composed of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, has only released three songs and just two proper singles. Debut track “Leave The Door Open” rose all the way to No. 1 on the Hot 100, so pressure was high for the pair to deliver another hit, and now they’ve done just that. The band’s second official single “Skate” starts off at No. 14 on this week’s chart, and it could very well climb in the coming weeks.
No. 16 – The Weeknd – “Blinding Lights”
Up to No. 16, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” is the single that just will not quit on the Hot 100. This frame, the electro/R&B/pop smash ties the all-time record for the most weeks spent on the most competitive ranking in the U.S., as the tune has now racked up an incredible 87 weeks on the list. At the moment, it’s on the same level as Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive,” but that probably won’t be the case for long. Since it’s still going strong inside the top 20, it’s likely that the Canadian star’s biggest hit will rewrite the record books in just a few days.
No. 20 – Marshmello & Jonas Brothers – “Leave Before You Love Me”
Justin Bieber and The Kid Laroi needed less than one month to hit the top spot with their collaboration, but not all joint singles are so quick to climb to No. 1. EDM producer Marshmello and sibling trio Jonas Brothers are slowly working their way up the Hot 100 with their hit “Leave Before You Love Me,” which this frame reaches a new peak and enters the top 20 for the first time. The cut has now spent 11 weeks on the tally, and it will probably continue its ascent.
